It starts a ten year countdown. Ample time to chicken out, it’s probably his idea of a negotiation tactic. But this will set wheels in motion regardless. Canada will seek more reliable trade partners. I can’t help but think that killing the Canadian auto industry could end up being a net win, sonce the USA is going to be 10 years behind on EVs.
