@Lstn2urmama@mstdn.ca @Sea1Am@mastodon.social @pinhman@humanwords.party the folks doing 500km a day - truckers - are in a different class of vehicle. A class that theoretically should be much easier to electrify than consumer vehicles. But as we saw with the startup in B.C. making electric logging trucks, the provincial and federal governments not only aren’t interested in supporting them, they continue to support systems that make it very hard for businesses to innovate in transportation. For the rest of us though, the vast majority of cars and trucks on the road do no more than 100km a day. My commute is on the high end, 160km a day, and I have been doing it in an EV since 2019. Technology and capability is not the problem anymore. It is *all* about governments and corporations wanting to continue the status quo at all cost. https://sustainablebiz.ca/edison-motors-set-to-begin-building-hybrid-electric-semi-trucks-in-bc

@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca @Sea1Am@mastodon.social @pinhman@humanwords.party according to reading this article the fuel spend will be no different than IS happening now prior " between 10,000 to 20,000 " when it's 15,000 now according to what was stated ..so this tells me this is to fill someone's dream of building another toy ..when same thing is doing so for many years .. had been watching one of women drivers over the years .. only know she is glad to be out of it...

@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca @Lstn2urmama@mstdn.ca @Sea1Am@mastodon.social Canada and small scale solar? Friend ran an ultra-light portable solar panel business. High efficiency very light weight panels. Almost no Canadian customers. US tariffs forced the business to close. Customer base was largely well-to-do American off-roaders and camping enthusiasts who wanted to power their gear while off grid.
