I'm no fan whatsoever of the Daily Mail, but I believe the Court case and verdict was fair (at least Harry seems willing to put his hand in his pocket to assist Doreen Lawrence, who appears to have been dragged into this case for some reason and isn't a celeb like the others) However I don't think its because the Press didn't *want* to use same surveillance tactics of 90s/00s - its more that they didn't use them because they no longer work as well in the modern era, mobile networks and emergency service comms are harder locked down (not like the days you could listen to the whole lot on a radio scanner), and celebs are more wary about their personal security and who they talk to.. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jul/09/doreen-lawrence-legal-bill-failed-sue-daily-mail-prince-harry
