Do the maths - error-free long-horizon agentic programming requires quality gates so good that I seriously doubt the capability of anybody to even get close.

The strategy that folks who claim to have cracked it is what I'd call "silent failing". Errors propagate and compound, and the agents just keep building on top of them.
