Thank goodness I was banned about a year ago. Only thing I miss are the sales communities! r/hardwaresales, r/avexchange, r/homelabsales, etc

I just found this out naturally and immediately came to lemmy to see if someone’s posted about it. Seriously I don’t want a reddit account and old.reddit.com without logging in has been a great way of checking up on the odd thing without having an account and being stuck in the dark patterns that keep you engaging

Killing 3rd party apps and allowing bots to run free spewing garbage spelled thenend of Reddit a while ago. It’s been shambling along, zombified, but the rot is too systemic.

Redlib is really the last bastion that keeps Reddit usable for me. Once it falls, I will completely quit the plattform.

This is masks off moment for old.reddit. They have already done device fingerprinting, usage analytics, IP address retention, and cookies before, so not asking for email was rather symbolic, token privacy feature anyway. Removing it only confirms what’s already been there for years - zero privacy on reddit.com Use redlib, it’s nice. You can disable JavaScript and use it through Tor for complete security and anonymity, subscribe to subreddits, and it also has a variety of themes to customize your experience with. And you can export your settings and subscriptions to import on another redlib instance anytime, so you are never locked in using only one instance.
