Not sure IF I have posted this BUT
this is a slap in the face to these brave men and women who come to our rescue on the coast or at sea.
Coastguard Rescue Officers are frontline heroes. Day and night, they carry out search parties, rescue people trapped in mud, and provide emergency first aid. But in a shocking move, the Government plans to strip them of their pay for emergency callouts, just so they can be cheaply re-classed as unpaid "volunteers".
It's a complete betrayal of the people we rely on in moments of danger. MPs are already speaking out and demanding the Maritime Minister backs down, but the issue is still flying under the radar.
This is the kind of mean-spirited decision that will make the Government look really bad and - if we can force it into the open - they may start to backtrack.
If thousands of us sign the petition demanding these brave men and women keep their wages, we can make the Government back down. A massive public outcry will show the Maritime Minister that we won't stand by while our coastal heroes are betrayed, hitting the mega-brakes on this nasty plan before it's too late.
So, Will you sign the petition to stand with our coastguard rescue officers and demand they get paid for their life-saving work? Use the button below to sign with one click:
