#writerscoffeeclub 14/11/2024 What's the most challenging thing about writing characters of a different sex/gender from your own? My characters are indeed quite stereotypical (the conservative lady, the helpful maid, the sociopath villains). And I don’t write a story set in our world today, so it’s not a problem if they don’t react as real people.

#writerscoffeeclub 15/11/2024 What do you owe the real people you base your characters on? Even if I use actors’ features for most of my characters, they are not real people: The public image they expose on which I base my characters are also characters on their own. [Edit: I forgot Dr Joyce, Freud of my universe. He’s supposed to look like him and to share interests, but with any change needed by the story. Also he died more than 70y ago, so I don’t owe anything to him/his heirs]
