I'm currently trying 6 mg melatonin for GERD; it seems to be helping - hope it continues to improve.

There are reports of melatonin content varying a lot from what is on the label - mostly much higher than what is on the label. Apparently, melatonin can degrade, so some supplement makers put in more to account for its degradation over time:

There's evidence from studies on rodents that melatonin can improve blood-brain barrier function:

If brain inflammation is driving chronic pain, then it seems plausible that melatonin could help.
