The university has just declared that one of its three goals in the years to come is "Advancing responsible AI adoption at scale." These goals get written into every major project the university undertakes, including a large number faculty research proposals. For years to come, then, we're going to plow even more money and support into AI while neglecting those who refuse to engage. And don't be fooled - "responsible" here is veneer, signalling our apparent commitment to critical scholarship while allowing the university to be as boosterish as it wants.

@brian_gettler@mas.to they only get three goals and THAT's what they want to go with? why would parents pay tuition to get that, ugh, I would pay for whatever the opposite of that is we will spend several years teaching your child critical thinking skills and immersing them in a vibrant cultural environment full of interesting people to learn with, which will help them develop technical and social skills for a productive and satisfying life that's what I want

@brian_gettler@mas.to Perfect timing, as research suggests at least some employers are rejecting AI-literate STEM graduates with shallow thought processes, in favour of humanities graduates who are still being taught to think. https://tech.lgbt/@Natasha_Jay/116867584703986125

@brian_gettler@mas.to I read that as "boorish." Still worked.
