Probably. But fungus is omnipresent, like bacteria, so you never know.
Edit: the other half of the thought is that perhaps conditions were never quite what the spores wanted, and then one day unbeknownst to you, they had a sudden burst of optimism. 🙂

@dougmerritt@mathstodon.xyz It is true that the conditions around that soil changed recently. Maybe I'll get a clue if I identify that mushroom and it's not usually found here.
