These days it sure feels like the tech industry is aggressively pushing all computing, hardware and software, onto a service / subscription model. I find this particularly offensive because I know many of the executives doing this used to be engineers, who honed their craft on affordable personal computers. They're denying the next generation the opportunity that made them successful. They're not just gatekeeping access to computers, but also to making better alternatives. They're stealing from our future.
