Because Ubuntu follows Debian, this creates a messy chain: Debian > Ubuntu > third-party dev. You have to worry about bugs from all three. For example, like Linux Mint, these forks work great at first. But unless you stick to a stock setup and only use Flatpaks, updates eventually break things. Customizing with new apps, settings, or third-party sources risks breaking that long development chain. It’s even worse if someone forks that fork, adding a fourth upstream. Tuxedo OS is fixing this by doing what Ubuntu originally did: forking Debian directly. Cutting out the middleman removes a massive layer of potential conflicts. Debian is a mainline, independent OS, making it the perfect, stable base to build upon.
