@chemoelectric@masto.ai One of these days I'm going to have to study up on physics in earnest. I find your posts interesting, but a lot of them give me the feeling from the meme: "that doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about {topic} to dispute it." I don't know if it's good or bad that pretty much all existing resources I could use to "catch up" are traditional, but having a grasp of what the mainstream _says_ probably couldn't hurt for comparison and context at least.

@MaddieM4@raphus.social The way he keeps circling back to the same thing makes me seriously question his mental health. I wonder if this pattern is triggering your spidey sense. He once mentioned having "pressured speech" which is a symptom of a variety of disorders :/ (Not that this somehow makes him wrong, but it could explain why he pursues the subject relentlessly) Either way, a couple of weeks ago I was in the same position as you, and did in fact learn enough physics to be confident that he is catastrophically wrong, and it was an enjoyable journey. The difficulty with discussing it with him is that he can't stay on one topic, so I found it hard to understand any single objection from my starting point. It was only later that I was able to definitely understand him and hence, what he was getting wrong.
