@nycki@critters.gay Why wouldn't I want to be believed if I employ sarcasm as a rhetorical device? I should hope that the point struck home. I most definitely would wish my words to be believed—I would wish for my logical inference to be believed.

    @mxchara@seattle.pink I'm using "believed" here to mean "understand something to be true in the real world." If you're saying something which is absurd, because it logically follows an absurd conclusion, then you don't actually want the listener to say "yes, that's true" uncritically, right?
