Yeah they were doing that too but I mention the language stuff because it’s literally genocidal and IMO having an official state policy of “derussification” is more damning than mortar fire they can blame on “separatists” or “extremists” If the extremists are in the legislature saying “you can’t speak Russian anymore, and if you live in these areas we’re taking away your pension” it’s kinda harder for Ukraine to deflect
