My sister was asking me over the weekend to help with Apple maps (an app she never uses) taking over all the storage of her phone.
It seems it's a known issue for ~4 years with no fix other than wipe phone?!

One attempted fix from reddit was to download a offline map. This added the side discovery that even the smallest square of remote ocean is a ~220mb download on Apple maps. In Google maps she has 'Bristol' downloaded for ~172mb!? What is Apple Maps doing?
