@terminaltilt@climatejustice.social The "Get Started" tool has buttons for installing Librewolf and Ungoogled Chromium: that neglect to inform the user that it builds them from source instead of grabbing a binary. It also happens to be a miserable pile of cascading dialog boxes. There really ought to be a project that takes these sorts of "single issue party" downstream distros and repackages them into something you apply to the originals. (install presets, post-install scripts, ZIP archives full of configfiles: that kinda thing)

  • @moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org Well, to be fair with Librewolf/ungoogled chromium, it is technically safer (which is what people who use Librewolf are worried about) to install via source, but I agree they should notify the user. I'm really just here to see if there have been improvements to the optimization since the last time I ran it.

@moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org @terminaltilt@climatejustice.social Uhm there is. It‘s called #gentoo with overlays. You have to select them overlays, bit I suppose most of what you‘re looking for is already there.
