#WritersCoffeeClub⁩ 2026JUL06: Do you offer critique to your fellow writers? Why (or why not)? i have in the past, either directly or in response to open requests for critique. It's not something i do frequently. I am aware that my reading habits and preferences are out of step with what's popular and caveat my feedback as such, but it's gun asking those questions, seeing which choices were incidental vs intentional, and reading something i wouldn't have picked on my own. I would like to be a beta reader, because of the way i have seen that kind of feedback benefit my own writing and planning, but the last writer i wanted to do that for made it clear that they thought of me as a fan, not a fellow writer offering feedback.

  • @NaClKnight@c.im That last writer apparently did not know the difference between a beta read and an ARC bc wtf???? That's like inviting someone to a test screening for a movie and then acting like it was an advance showing or something
