The code red and orange weather warnings include “(expect) significant damage to property” and “expect infrastructural breakdowns.” But for many people I know, that’s too abstract of an idea unless it’s a storm. No one thinks fire can strike dry twigs in *their* garden because *they’re* not living in a fire region. In a heatwave, infrastructure damage starts to look like transformers and other equipment failing and being left with no electricity, like a few thousand households in France.
