@nick@hkc.social I'm inclined to view those direct screen reader APIs as kind of cheating. They don't really work with Narrator, nor with Braille, particularly for things like announcing things that should naturally be in the parent chain of a newly focused thing, like a tab change. Cool experiment, though.
