hm openemu has this screen where it asks to download cores on startup, which additionally serves as attribution. Then later they also have it in the empty library view for each pltfrm. in highscore I don't have anything like this, because - in flatpak they are all just bundled (and those that can't be because of MAME license are extensions), and if it's distro packaged, those would be system packages. So, a screen like this cannot exist this is nice because more things work OOTB, but it also means less prominent attribution. You can still find out the list of cores from preferences (and view detailed info, like their version and such - see screenshot), but you have to go into settings to do that. I used to have it in about dialog credits/legal sections too, but it felt too disconnected this way. I might just put a section there with a link that opens the relevant preferences page. so - I wonder what would be a good way to do attribution more prominently? I could just have a list of cores in the welcome dialog, but people would likely just skip over it (and I mean what would you realistically do with that info? Memorize a list of 11 (so far!) emulators?). Putting it into library is not a good option since (so far) the library is scanned before it's shown, right in the welcome dialog (this will change; that was a workaround for a GtkGridView crash if I'm being compleely honest). It could be an overlay notification when starting a game for a new platform for the first time (like there's already one for checking controls and telling you which controller is being used; last screenshot), but these need to disappear on their own having to manually dismiss one every time you start a game for a new platform is meh. But at the same time if it does disappear, it's easy to miss so it doesn't do a good job of attribution. so yeah, i wonder if there are better ways to do this?
