some people are intrinsically motivated to do an action, meaning they are interested in doing the action for its own sake. others are extrinsically motivated, meaning they are doing it for some kind of outside reward. a lot of games and websites try to use outside rewards to get people to form habits that support the game or website long term. and there are people like me who know these tricks and are turned off by them. we can say these people are extrinsically demotivated.
