A conversion of a 1080p video from AVC (H.264) to VPN9 reduced the file size by 50%. The client was totally fine with letting all users load 20MB for a stupid header video. It's not the only video on the site. I remember when there was a rule not to let images exceed 100kb. Sure, we do have fiber these days but don't transfer useless bytes.
