It's the year 2026 and the ABC is still pulling this shit.
I do not give a rats arse if a "small business" wants to complain about paying a livable income to their staff. If they cannot do this, they have no place running a business.
There is no special right to make money while other people can't afford to pay their rent or buy food. When you own the business you shouldn't simply expect to make money regardless of how you treat humans.
This crap makes me really cranky and it's why I stop even looking at the news for months at a time.

@ewen@social.ewenbell.com I did an illustration once that included a dude in a suit holding up a sign that said, “I’m bad at running a business and want that to be everyone else’s fault.”

@ewen@social.ewenbell.com I don’t know the Australian situation, but the small businesses can be a victim, too. Like if you’re under pressure from a big (inter)national competitor you may not be at liberty to pay your employees as much as you’d want to – and at the same time just running out of business does not improve the situation for anyone, since the competitor then usually squeezes the employees even more, especially if there is no local competition left.
