Incorporating accurate #geospatial data is essential both for identifying the environment in which #datacenters operate but also providing a rough indicator of capacity, following the so-called floor space proxy method.
Various methodologies people use for the estimation of GHG emissions and water usage are discussed and summarized in this post which identifies the key variables that must be sourced from public information.

Collecting, processing and making sense of the public data can be a cumbersome exercise and there are important #dataquality issues to overcome before the results are meaningful. For this purpose we are developing functionality within the #opensource #Equinox platform to support this task.
