This will also be a good project to push me to learn more voice-to-text/accessibility options in my setup (I am healing but still experiencing pretty debilitating hand pain that interferes with my typing quite a bit. BUT THE CULTURE CHANGE WILL GO ON)

Actually very interesting as a writer and a psychologist to build structures around this. I find myself mentally working out my writing in my head a tremendous amount which is a neat skill to refine. The human mind is so unbelievably adaptive and powerful.

@grimalkina@mastodon.social My cents as a deaf person who often benefits from transcriptions: pay as much attention to the latency as to accuracy. Modern STT software is pretty good on accuracy (i.e. word error rate) but even industrial ones like Zoom and Teams can be so bad (500+ ms on closed captioning) it’s worse than no transcript at all. General guidance is captioning should be <200 ms to enable real time engagement for people who absolutely need them.
