@ancientsounds@mastodonapp.uk I meant latinisations accompanied by a description of the sounds represented by the Latin graphemes. The only online source I found did indeed provide a latinised text although the accompanying sound description was just a very basic American English phonetic respelling. A rendition in IPA of even a few passages would be immensely useful.

@ilookloud@retro.pizza It's likely that Daniels and Bright's “The World's Writing Systems” will have an Avestan passage with IPA (because that's their standard format for each writing system included), but I don't have access to it right now so can't be 100% sure

@ilookloud@retro.pizza Fortson's "Indo-European Language and Culture" has a short example, with a transliteration that is not quite IPA (but is based on IPA). For descriptions of the sounds denoted by each letter, you'll need to look elsewhere if you're not familiar. I've taken the liberty of scanning a small portion here:
