At #OSPOsforGood Day at #UNOpenSourceWeek, Policy and Research Lead Paul Sharratt spoke to a standing-room-only audience on the panel “Financing Open Source and Digital Public Goods: A Multi-Stakeholder Approach.”
Paul made the case for why open source infrastructure requires dedicated public investment. Critical open source is a classic market failure. The software provides enormous economic and social value, but private actors have little incentive to invest in maintaining it:
