@cd24@sfba.social I am likewise interested in what people think about #Ohio ’s Parental Notification by Social Media Operators Act, Ohio Revised Code 1349.09, https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-1349.09 It was on old until SCOTUS struck down those restrictions not long in another state. I believe it is in full force. The requirements for 16 and under is pretty strict. Applies to "any business, entity, or person that operates an online web site, service, or product that has users" in Ohio, and the site operates with social media like features. Has penalty of $1000 per day for first 60 days, then $5000 per day through day 90 and after that $10K per day, per user under the age of 16. I put a disclaimer in my self-hosted instance that no one under the age 16 can, or does, have an account on OldFriends.Live. I am also in Ohio.
