Yes, I'd rather walk away in most cases than risk handing over personal data when I've no control over how it's used afterwards.
But that's why ZKP is such a good tool. I can prove I am what I say I am, without having to give any information away about myself. It's bloody clever 🙂

@mackaj@mastodon.me.uk @Npars01@mstdn.social I apologize for being snarky, this is one of the few political issues which still has the power to rile me up. my threat model is the government itself. for me, ZKP doesn't solve the problem that my identity will be tied to whatever account I use to exercise my right to speak. even if the platform can't get it, the government can, and that's 100% unacceptable to me. but yes, it does appear to solve the issue of every platform complying with this bullshit storing identity data.
