@monkey@brain.worm.pink i think part of whats pissing me off is in part like
back in the day it was like "hey pick out one of these neat starter avatars people put out here" and now it's just like "GIVE US MONEY GIVE GIVE DEFAULT SHOW ONLY MTX" and i'm just like i wanna throw the executives off a bridge and i haven't even been back online a full minute.
i have some old old avatar from the beforetimes that actually has like sound effects and a custom hud overlay with animated features and shit.
in second life you can at least buy parts and tinker with your avatar a bit. shirts from one store, hair from another, fiddle with the textures. here they're tripping over themselves to cram mtx in my face, but i'm just buying a rental for a dead model i can't customize at all?
why the fuck do people love this game so much

@icedquinn@blob.cat with vrchat it's them attempting to reign in the money streams. Like I'm sure you saw now they sell avatars in game to bypass users going to booth / camel / etc to get cool ones. also "why the fuck do people love this game so much" as a former vrchat addict I can just say that as a social recluse it was very appealing and all my friends online were on it. The problem for me was the people on vrchat lol. I don't play it anymore cause not only is it unhealthy and also the people on there kind of sucked.
