i consider new york city to just be the five boroughs. the metropolitan area, including nassau and suffolk counties, yonkers, white plains, and parts of new jersey is its own thing

obligatory reminder that NYC is not just manhattan. what you see in the media is not an accurate representation of how it is IRL (true for most things tbh)
