i think the power failure earlier broke something in gcc, either the built copy or the source. fuck.

so it turns out when building gcc 4.4.7 the first time, whether or not just using "make" still tries to bootstrap, DESPITE PASSING "--disable-bootstrap" TO GCC'S CONFIGURE SCRIPT, seems random. lovely.
