Over on my newsletter, I wrote a bit about why I decided to write this book.
Even two years ago, I could see that a conflict was coming over data centers. The communities that felt the brunt of them early were already pushing back, and the tech industry was planning to move into many more to power its generative AI ambitions.
HYPERSCALE explains why this pursuit is fundamentally unsustainable and why we don’t have to accept the claims this future is inevitable.

@parismarx@mastodon.online I hope some enterprising architects are thinking about how to repurpose the datacentre buildings once this madness draws to a close - weatherproof and pest-free hydroponic farms, growing meat in vats instead of raising animals for slaughter, climate-controlled towns for people who hate nature - there must be some way we can turn them into a benefit that allows us to return land to the wild.
