are tornadoes in alaska not a thing because of the climate, or because of the mountains?

@mir@ice.ch3.st probably both. Tornadoes form from a specific mixture of air currents, and have to form over flat ground. We used to never get tornadoes here in Ottawa, but they've begun cropping up every couple of years now, probably due to air systems changing due to climate change
