The point of this post is to highlight the absurdity of some of the certification exams. You and I both know intuitively that the best people at network penetration – and the best people at network protection – didn’t learn their real skills in a cybersecurity course. The white hats and black hats both become expert by studying network protocols, network infrastructure, file storage systems, and coding.
And psychology. Don’t forget psychology.

@fifonetworks@infosec.exchange I mostly agree. I think the OSCP is valuable, but the rest aren't. The thing people seem to forget is that infosec is not an entry level job. You need a solid tech pillar under your belt, preferably more than one, or you'll get pwned over and over. But there's no money to be made in letting people just, you know, work and gain experience so they have a chance at being a competent defender.
