The start of Pipiri is Monday week, so that’s close enough to the public commemoration of #Matariki on Friday. Since our peoples used the same calendar (right down to which years have leap months) it’s very easy to calculate when it is: basically near the start of 六月 for us (thrown out occasionally by when we add leap months—Māori are more practical on this and append Ruhanui to the end, which makes it all simpler)!
