  • Because I’m not 400 pounds doesn’t mean I’m not fat. Ecosia doesn’t build data centers, ecosia cannot control government approval of data centers what they can do is mitigate the effects of those data centers with their tree planting scheme

  • Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. Ecosia producing more energy than is needed to run it’s ai workloads is still much better than what most other providers do. Model training is not done by ecosia. They only use what is already there. Switching to another search engine because of an Artikel like that might very well get you into worse conditions. I only know of duckduckgo that employes no ai at all but the don’t produce regenerative energy or plant trees and search costs energy as well.
