What is at the heart of needing to keep the door open tho? Is it purey the cats to the point you can make them a catdoor?
Not siding with the landlord, theres a realoty where landlords hold a ton of economic/legal/political power and they can really fuck you if you dont pick your battles.

The suggestion of a cat door keeps being raised and I don’t understand how that would fix anything about this situation for anyone. It’s mounted in a screen for the window, so by its nature the window will still be open. The only difference I can see is being charged to replace a window screen when I move out.
