A decent “entry level” PC that won’t be obsolete in 3 years is 1500(CDN)$ these days, and at that price you have to put it together yourself, supply an OS, and be able to fix problems without outside help. That doesn’t even involve peripherals like a monitor, a keyboard or a mouse. Obsolete in 3 years is a fallacy though, because I’m running machines that are older than that. It’s easy if you don’t have to run applications that are spying on you.
