@stroughtonsmith@mastodon.social I don’t think the main problem is that HDR sucks on LCDs. The real problem is that almost no 3rd party display works properly on MacOS with HDR enabled. I have an Asus OLED display and it’s basically impossible to get the HDR mode to show accurate colors on MacO. Unless the display has a proper tone mapping profile for MacOS, colors will always look off and washed out with HDR enabled. There are some 3rd party displays that claim to have proper HDR tone mapping on MacOS, but haven’t tried any.
