I don't understand why you think this is the case. I don't think irc has to change, my argument is that in many cases - for most people - it's superseded by technologies that are designed to handle anything from chats to essays, because it doesn't stop you from chatting and irc is subpar at handling essays - there's no replies, quotes, line splits cause client issues and so on. As far as I understand you think this somehow stops you from chatting because... you've seen matrix rooms or some shit. And you don't think the caveats of big messages on irc naturally denounce the platform for most people - which I think is the case, because that's precisely why newer platforms are designed the way they are. I think you're dense as shit or otherwise asinine, maybe just really defensive of your gay chat platform people refuse to use for very good reasons not addressed by disabling flood kicks or changing clients.
