For someone who's never had nor craved any significant social media presence, today has been a difficult day for me. I'm an introvert and quite happy to exist in the relative shadows. I churn out wonderful masterpieces of code that no one will ever see, and few will ever use. I'm ok with that. My motivation is the joy and the challenge of creation.
But when the code represents what you hope will become a (at least moderately) successful commercial venture, it's time to get out of the comfort zone.
I'm back on LinkedIn after a period of glorious absence.
It's been hell.
I'm a backend dev/systems guy who got thrust into management and found I was quite good at it but never particularly enjoyed it, and now, today, I'm launching a new business. And I've got to market it and sell it. I hate doing that.
But other than hopefully making a liveable living, this is something I genuinely believe in - I'm a dev helping devs step up in their careers and promote their professional skills - so time for me to step up!
