Why the name #deltachat ? - here is my answer: "delta" is often used to mean "difference," which felt fitting. not just in terms of making a difference, but also to find a place on scales like central-p2p or beginner-expert. if you think of a river delta, it’s also about things becoming broader and more distributed. none of it fits 100%, i know :) at the end, the name sounded nice to me, and i got a domain. also, i spent far too much time on naming and needed a decision :) #BehindTheScenes

@r10s@mastodon.social @delta@chaos.social Mostly sounds to me in making the difference to other tools . Between EMail and messenger any other tool is different. Too many people use too many different tools mostly from central commercial tech concerns. Just Chatting by name looks underrated for DeltaChat🙏😘

@r10s@mastodon.social Very interesting to know. I have a good friend -- who is somewhat on the chat now -- whose wife is named Delta. So we joke about that. She is the only one I've ever met with this name.

@r10s@mastodon.social i managed to test it a bit for some time; comparing with signal. So far the audio quality is somewhat worse during the audio calls (words being swallowed, ect), but I'll continue monitoring ;)
