🤓 🚨
New video just posted by Chris Titus Tech https://youtu.be/ybm1KwlGKA0?is=zdcWGf9iUT-sxKIl, tl;dr he's distro hopping for his "daily driver" LInux desktop from Arch Linux to Fedora.
I share a lot of CTT's core requirements for a daily driver Linux desktop, I need core packages to be updated faster than Debian stable branch, but I also need more stability than rolling releases provide. I also shun bloatware and gimmicks such as Snap packages, so sorry Canonical/Ubuntu. And I share his persona/perspective of wanting the OS to just work and get out of the way of my paid work and personal projects. I do enjoy modding and tinkering with hobby projects and gaming rigs, but I want my daily driver to be boring, dependable and stable.
I've been evaluating several rolling distros including Arch Linux and CachyOS, as well as Fedora Workstation, Void Linux and MX Linux.
For virtual desktops I love the look and feel and responsiveness of CachyOS running KDE Plasma, but I don't love mainline Arch Linux and the complexity of installing Arch on bare metal with LUKS disk encryption and Secure Boot enabled.
I will continue to use and evaluate Void Linux vs MX Linux for distros that don't rely on systemd but if I needed to swap out my "daily driver" right now I would probably use Fedora also.

@mick_talbott@infosec.exchange I would also like to advocate for an immutable / atomic edition with the desktop of your choice. With limiting myself to Flatpak/Distrobox Software Installation I prevent myself from destroying my daily driver‘s Linux installation.
