The baby was watching me put up my hair this morning and it occurred to me I should probably eventually have an answer for her if she ever asks why I don't do corn rows or bantu knots as her friends do. Or, more likely, why I won't allow her to. How do I say how borrowing is good but theft is bad and how being from a colonizing people shifts the balance from one to the other? Why that makes a difference. And once again I lament the ethnicity my ancestors abandoned for whiteness.
