@hardpenguin13@mastodon.gamedev.place Steam manages to keeps their spot in the game market, not by virtue of being the perfect platform, but by virtue of being the one platform that's not actively shooting itself in the foot. It's not perfect for consumers, it's not perfect for developers, and it's not perfect for publishers. But it keeps managing to be various levels of decent for all three. The big alternatives are either poor for developers or publishers, or actively painful for consumers.
