@slava@mathstodon.xyz VB5 was pretty cool, and the database features of VB6 seemed amazing at the time. I don't miss the language itself all that much though. To me, the closest feeling thing is Django. I feel like of the three you mentioned though, only Smalltalk really had a decent language attached to it.

  • @slava@mathstodon.xyz One thing I tend to find head scratching about modern open source Smalltalks is they all feel harder to get started with than they should be. Why don't they all ship with drop dead simple tools for working with Postgres, SQLite, REST APIs, combined with the ease of making forms in VB6, Access, or Django?
