Knowing libraries and librarians, I'm aware what they've got on their plates to keep the service going for the community. I know what is realistic and what isn't.
Having an item checked out regularly helps them provide stats to ask for a budget at the next meeting, the way libraries can thrive is by having physical things: books, magazines, consoles and games all checked out. The more that are borrowed, the more they can sustain themselves to local budgets.
