Why fight Google? It just wastes my energy. I have a Linux phone from Jolla coming; that's my solution. No energy required for fighting. Make them irrelevant.

@RickD_Card@socialbc.ca Because unfortunately owning an Android or iOS device is basically a life requirement for many people. And because Linux is still virtually unusable on mobile phones. A much simpler solution for just be to install another ROM but even that is a fairly complex task for a normie.

@RickD_Card@socialbc.ca @fdroidorg@floss.social Unfortunately, many apps such as WhatsApp, Waze and many, many others are essential to many people for... maybe... Working or professional use? And these apps are not fully ported to work on Waydroid or other compatibility layers. And I use an Ubuntu Touch phone as secondary device, but I can see that my specific case is not the entire or majority universe.
